This exhibit, inside the Llano County Historical Museum, is to promote Western culture and heritage. It is also a celebration of the Artists who have captured the grandeur and heritage of the American West in the creation of the finest original Western Art & Custom Trappings/Gear.

General

The Western Trappings on The Llano Committee is responsible for the interpretation of these guidelines. Matters not covered are subject to final decision by this Committee. For a complete understanding of the rules and regulations of this Exhibit, please refer to the Artist Application Form and Exhibit Contract. Guidelines and Application Details

1. Eligibility

This Juried Art Exhibition & Sale is open to all artists 18 years and older.

The Llano County Historical Museum seeks to exhibit a broad and diverse array of the finest Western Art and Custom Trappings/Gear.

All works must be Western Art or Custom Trappings/Gear.

Submission of both three-dimensional work, including Western Trappings (artistic functional pieces, silver work, jewelry, leather work, etc.) is encouraged.

Contemporary and traditional styles are welcomed. Painting and other Art Works showing Western life styles or landscapes of the Texas Hill Country are encouraged.

All works must be original.

Artists may submit one application for up to 3 "works of Art".

All work must be for sale.

Artist who "work of Art" is selected into the Exhibit must: (1) donate one item of equal quality but of lesser retail value (it is suggested the retail value of the auction item be around $200.00) to the Llano C ounty Historical Museum to be sold at the live auction or (2) donate $200.00 to the Museum. However we strongly encourage providing an item for the auction.

2. Artist Application

The Artist Application Fee of $15.00 is per Application.

Artist must submit professional quality color images (up to 3) of each "work of Art", or of a similar recent "work", they wish to exhibit. Three (3) "works of Art" may be submitted per application.

The Artist's Application, Images and Fee must be received by August 1, 2013.

4. Image Quality

Applications must include professional quality color images, digital or photographs.

Digital images submitted through CaFE must be formatted to their specifications.

Digital images submitted to the Museum via email or CD/Flash Drive should:

File Format: Standard JPEG, not saved as a Progressive JPEG.

File Size: JPEGs must be under 1.8 MB.

Image must be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal)

Show only the image, no frame or mat

Digital enhancement is not allowed

Poor quality images may not be juried.

5. Submission of Images

Images may be submitted

Photographs and/or Electronically on a CD or flash drive, mail or deliver to:

Artists may submit an application for up to three (3) "works of Art" for consideration by the jury.

Photographs, CD's and/or flash drives must be labeled with the Artist's full name and "The Llano County Historical Museum". Send inside hard case for safe handling. Photographs, CD's and/or flash drives become the property of the Museum and will not be returned.

6. Value of Art

The estimated value, asking price, must be clearly marked on the Artist's application for each work submitted for consideration.

Art Work will be insured for the value the Art is "For Sale" for in the Exhibit.

7. The Exhibit

The Western Trappings on The Llano Art Exhibit will be inside the Llano County Historical Museum.

The Llano County Historical Museum is responsible for receiving and installing the selected pieces in a manner that exhibits work to its best advantage, and for providing protection from theft and damage.

The Llano County Historical Museum shall be solely responsible, at its discretion, for hanging the Art, preparing promotional material for the exhibit, and selling the Art for the Artist during the exhibit. Artist having special display stands need to provide them with submittal of Art.

Information about "Special Openings", viewing hours, and other associated events will be publicized.

8. Fees, Sales and Artist Recognition

All Artworks must be for sale.

The conduct and the condition of the sale shall be determined solely by the Committee.

Prices listed on the application form are binding and cannot be changed after submission to the show.

Net proceeds of sale, after the deduction of applicable taxes shall be paid to the Artist as soon as possible after the sale date.

Sold works will be released to the buyer at the end of the exhibition.

Artists will receive proper recognition as provided by the Artist biography in the Exhibit Contract.

All works may be displayed on the City of Llano's, Chamber of Commerce, Chuck Wagon Cook-Off's and Museum's website.

Llano County Historical Museum reserves the right to use Art images for the purpose of promotion for this and future exhibits.

Artists grant the Llano County Historical Museum permission to photograph selected Artwork for publicity purposes.

The Llano County Historical Museum charges no fees or commissions.

Artist with selected item in the exhibit MUST agree donate to the Museum another item of lesser value but equal quality (it is suggested the retail value of the auction be around $200.00) or $200.00. However, items for the auction are preferred.

This item will be offered at auction at the Chuck Wagon Cook-Off.

This live auction will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2013.

9. Quality

The submissions must be of the Artist's original work.

10. Copyright

Works that copy, reproduce, imitate or otherwise infringe on someone else's copyrighted material will not be considered.

11. Notification of Acceptance

A letter, indicating acceptance status into the exhibit will be sent to all applicants following the jury process. Confirmation should be received by September 1, 2013. Artists selected into the exhibit will also receive the Exhibit Contract for their execution.

12. Jury Process

The purpose of the jury process is to ensure the highest quality of fine Western Art is exhibited. Submitted original Artwork that is considered to be of the highest overall quality and that meets the greatest number of the following criteria will be juried into the exhibit based upon:

Quality, Presentation, Western content, Artistic merit, Technical skills, Composition and Style (Innovative vs. traditional)

Upon receipt of the actual Artwork, the Western Trappings on The Llano Committee reserves the right to withdraw the juried piece if it fails to meet the jury's expectations. Quality of framing and presentation may be considered.

13. Art Delivery

"Works of Art" selected for inclusion in the Exhibit must be completed, framed or mounted for display, and delivered as indicated in the Exhibit/Contract Letter.

14. Shipping and Brokerage

DELIVERY TO MUSEUM

The Artist shall be responsible for all shipping, brokerage and insurance costs or fees incurred for transportation of the Artist's Art to the exhibit.

Accepted entries may be shipped or hand delivered.

All work must be adequately packed in secure, reusable containers.

A complete label must be attached to each accepted Artwork including: name, title, dimensions, medium, date, and the Artist address.

All Artwork must come gallery ready (professionally framed or ok if painted on gallery wrap canvas) with a wire, ready to be hung on hooks. Installation instructions should be included.

Shipping insurance for full loss is recommended.

A return label must be included in the reusable box with delivery of the Art.

15. Return of Art

Artist shall ensure that within three days following the final day of the Exhibit their Art is picked up by the Artist, Courier Company or that in advance the Artist had notified the Llano County Historical Museum of the Artist's desire to have their Art shipped.

Artist who advises the Llano County Historical Museum in advance of their desire to have the Art shipped back will make those shipping arrangements with assistance from the committee.

This return shipping and insurance cost shall be the Artist's expense and responsibility.

Work shall be returned in the original packing and boxes.

Color images depicting each submitted work of art are required for inclusion in the jury process. The Artist may submit up to three (3) pieces, but no more than two pieces for inclusion in the Exhibit.
By submitting this application online, I/we have read and confirm acceptance of the Guidelines, Rules and Agreement for participation in the "Western Trappings on the Llano" exhibition, and agree to abide by the same, and any future amendments there to, should I/we be selected to present Art Works for said Exhibit. If the form is being downloaded for hardcopy submission, the artist must submit a signed copy to the Llano County Historical Museum.

AGREEMENT

THIS AGREEMENT IS MADE BETWEEN; the "Artist" listed above and the Western Trappings on the Llano Art Exhibition & Sale Committee ("the Committee").

1) The Committee will hold insurance for all the works of Art included in the Exhibit from the time of receipt by the Committee until the end of the exhibit, or if not sold, until the piece is delivered by the Committee directly to the Artist or to a shipper for return to the Artist. Each piece will be insured for the upper limit of the estimated value range.

2) Except for the above mentioned insurance coverage to be held by the Committee, the piece shall be received from, stored for, and returned to the Artist as provided in this agreement at the sole risk of the Artist. The Committee shall not be liable for any loss or damage to the piece from any cause whatsoever including, without limitation, any act or inaction, whether negligent or not, on the part of the Committee, and its affiliates, or their directors, officers, employees, representatives and volunteers.

3) The Committee reserves the right to publish and exhibit pieces included in the Exhibit for publicity and promotion of the Western Trappings on the Llano Art Exhibition & Sale, Main Street's Heritage Days Festival & the Chuck Wagon Cook-Off.

4) The conduct and the condition of the sale shall be determined solely by the Committee.

5) Net proceeds of sale, after the deduction of applicable taxes shall be paid by the Committee as soon as possible after the sale date.

6) The Artist agrees to donate to the Llano County Historical Museum one item of lesser value, but of equal quality (it is suggested the retail value of the auction be around $200.00) or $200.00. These items shall be auctioned with the Museum retaining all proceeds.

7) The Artist warrants that the Artwork submitted for consideration by the jury is the original work of the Artist. Further the Artist represents and warrants to the Committee that any piece submitted is not encumbered in any manner, and that ownership of the piece will pass to the purchaser thereof.

8) The Committee, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to withdraw acceptance of any piece upon its delivery and/or before the moment of sale.

9) Pieces selected for inclusion in the Auction must be completed, framed or mounted for display, and delivered as indicated in the Acceptance Letter.

10) This agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the Llano County Historical Museum and the Artist.

Personal and demographic information provided in this application will not be used for purposes other than those related to the Llano County Historical Museum operated programs or business purposes. Your information will be handled with respect, and will not be sold, given away, or provided to parties outside the Llano County Historical Museum without your consent, unless the law requires that it be shared

Three copies of this form, along with images and biography form must be signed and returned to the Committee, Attn: Western Trappings on The Llano, c/o The Llano County Historical Museum, 310 Bessemer, Llano, TX 78643. A fully executed copy of the Contract will be returned to those who are accepted into the Exhibit.
